Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do the Wooden Candles really glow in the dark?
Yes, they do! Our candles give off a gentle glow. They do not illuminate like a lamp.
  • What makes the Wooden Candle glow?
We hand form each flame individually with a clay that contains a phosphorus ingredient that absorbs light during the day and glows when the lights are off. The decorative aspect of your Wooden Candle can be enjoyed in any location of your home but to enjoy the full effect of the glow, the candles must be exposed to a light source. Place them near a lamp, an overhead light, or a brightly lit window and when the room darkens, they will glow. Please note it is important that the light be above the candle: they will not work on top of a TV or a hutch. The room must be completely dark to enjoy the full effect of the flow. Any light that shines on the flames will diminish the glow.
  • How long do the Wooden Candles glow?
The glow lasts up to 8 hours with each charge. To recharge your Wooden Candle, expose them to a light again. The process will continue indefinitely.
  • Can I make the Wooden Candle myself?
No, not unless you want to be in violation of the US Copyright laws. Our designs, including our flames, are protected by these laws. Did you know that a judge may award damages up to $250,000 for willfull infringement?
  • I don't think my Wooden Candle's flame is glowing... What do I do?
It may be that your Wooden Candle hasn't been charged properly or the room in which you've chosen to display your candle might not be dark enough. Remember, our Wooden Candles are not a light source; they give off a soft glow. To test your flames, place the Wooden Candle directly under an end table lamp, desk lamp, or overhead kitchen light. After 15 minutes or so, turn off all of the lights (or try it in a dark closet or restroom) and watch your Wooden Candle glow.
